Credit Card Application Flow

THE CHALLENGE

Present users with an application for the Wayfair Credit Card (financing provided by a third party) so they can get rewards and finance their purchases.

THE SOLUTION

Create a Wayfair-branded application flow from checkout where users can either link their existing third-party account or apply for a new card entirely. Accounts could be verified with the third-party widget, but creating the application ourselves allowed us to customize the steps and the messaging.

HOW I CONTRIBUTED

• Creating a content-first flow outlining the potential steps a user could take and the messaging provided along the way.

• Helped illustrate at every step, with copy, why we were asking for any sensitive or personal information.

• Wrote in plain language to accommodate the need for French translation.

• Worked to minimize potential errors, handling validation efforts, and created actionable error messages where needed.

• Incorporated feedback from the third-party financing partner, and implemented tricky legal considerations.
